Disney World Teases 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party & Jollywood Nights News
We’re almost Halfway to the Holidays! Walt Disney World is celebrating with several Christmas in June announcements. This post covers what to expect, including our predictions about what will and won’t be announced: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, Cinderella Castle Dream Lights, pricing, 2026 dates, and more.
Let’s start with the sure thing. Since returning in 2022, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has been announced during “Halfway to the Holidays” between mid-June and mid-July. “Halfway to the Holidays” went on hiatus last year, but Disney just confirmed that it’ll be returning for 2026.
If you only want confirmed dates & details, you’ll have to wait until “Halfway to the Holidays” actually starts this week. Today is only a tease via Disney Parks, plus our predictions. Subscribe to our free email newsletter for instant alerts, which will provide you an immediate update when 2026 Jollywood Nights and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates, along with any surprises that are announced.
This is the fifth year that Disney Parks is doing “Halfway to the Holidays,” and it makes us chuckle just a little bit. Christmas in July is already a thing. Why not just embrace that established tradition? But admittedly, it is fitting that Walt Disney World’s holiday season is creeping forward. After all, this is the same place that brings us Halloween starting August 7th!
For normal Americans, there’s great debate about when the Christmas season actually begins. Is it the day after Halloween? When Starbucks releases its Peppermint Mocha? The start of Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas? Or, are you a Turkey Before Tree stickler? These are the pressing questions of our day, all of which dictate when we’re actually halfway to the holiday season.
On that note, here’s Walt Disney World’s tease for Halfway to the Holidays:
“’Twas the night before Halfway to the Holidays… the mantle stood still, With spaces to fill… and secrets to reveal,” Disney Parks posted on Twitter with an image featuring a fireplace. There are 4 empty hooks for stockings, presumably representing the number of Christmas announcements we can expect.
This means that Halfway to the Holidays will occur on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. It’s likely to feature announcements, sneak peeks, special treats, and other holiday fun. Typically, Halfway to the Holidays revolves around Walt Disney World, with a dash of Disneyland (usually just concept art for new character costumes), consumer products, and a restating of Disney Cruise Line’s Very Merrytime Cruises, along with what’s happening at the international parks. That’s what the four announcements will likely consist of.
With that in mind, here are some of our predictions for Halfway to the Holidays announcements concerning Christmas 2026 at Walt Disney World…
Prediction: June 23rd Announcement (CORRECT!)
In last week’s post, When Will Disney World Release 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates & Start Ticket Sales?, we predicted a “Halfway to the Holidays” announcement of 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
With the tease of Halfway to the Holidays, this one is almost certainly correct. The only way it wouldn’t be is if MVMCP isn’t one of the things that’s announced, and Disney instead opts to bring back Disney Very Merriest After Hours or something like that. There’s almost no chance of that happening. We’re getting MVMCP dates and details tomorrow. It’s as sure of a thing as sure things get.
Prediction: Disney’s Jollywood Nights Returns
Our previous post revolved around Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, ignoring all other elements of Christmas at Walt Disney World, so we’re going to discuss those here first.
Our prediction is that the 2026 Disney Jollywood Nights Christmas Party will start on or around Saturday, November 7, 2026 and continue several nights per week until around Monday, December 21, 2026. Those dates are strongly supported by past precedent, but could end up shifting by a day or two.
For reference, here’s a list of last year’s Disney Jollywood Nights dates:
- November 8, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29
- December 1, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 22
Last year, Jollywood Nights did not start selling out until mid-October. The first sold out night was also the first event of the season: Saturday, November 8. The first date is the only one to sell out in all three first years of DJN.
The big change last year was that almost every Jollywood Nights date sold out. In the previous two years, only about half of the parties sold out. Between mid-October and mid-November, dates continued to sell out. By December 12th, all dates except December 17th sold out. That ended up being the only night that did not sell out.
Given the success of DJN’s third year, it wouldn’t surprise us if Walt Disney World tries to squeeze-in another few event nights for the 2026 Jollywood Nights, especially with Christmas falling on a Friday this year and crowd levels being lower that week last year. There were 13 parties last year; we wouldn’t be surprised if the 2026 Disney Jollywood Nights has 15 or more parties.
Our hope and expectation is that Walt Disney World adds something new and noteworthy to the 2026 Disney Jollywood Nights. Major changes occurred between the first and second year, but only minor character tweaks happened last year. A new fireworks show, as opposed to recycling ‘Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM’ yet again, seems like the most plausible option. Swapping out the ice skating show for something else also seems reasonable.
We’re lumping all of the Disney Jollywood Nights predictions together since they’re low-confidence. The event will only be in its fourth year as of 2026, and there’s far less precedent for it. Your guesses are as good as ours about what Walt Disney World does with it.
Prediction: Dream Lights Don’t Return
I’ll never pass up the opportunity to sing the praises of the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. Those icicle lights were one of our favorite things about Christmas at Walt Disney World for the decade-plus. We spent many a late night on Main Street, simply gazing down at those resplendent lights, savoring the scene. They were nothing short of spectacular and it’s still baffling to me that Disney thinks projections are a satisfactory replacement.
No projections can match the more than 200,000 tiny white lights that illuminate Cinderella Castle and transform it into a veritable ice palace. The Dream Lights would stop you in your tracks, with the resplendent physical display being an absolute jaw-dropper. Words, photos, and video absolutely cannot do it justice. I’m not normally one for the flowery language in Disney’s press releases, but even the company’s marketing teams undersold the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights. Whatever praise you’ve heard about the Dream Lights, it’s true. All of it.
Our hope was that the recently-completed repainting of Cinderella Castle would also involve quiet infrastructure work to make it easier to install the Dream Lights. Unfortunately, we saw no signs of that. While the seamless way that project was carried out could serve as the blueprint for bringing back the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights, it seems like that’s unrealistic daydreaming. It shouldn’t be. If you look at the fan comments to the Disney Parks tease on Instagram, the majority are begging for the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights to return.
More than anything on this list, I hope to be wrong about this, but my prediction is that the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights will not return for Christmas 2026. They should, especially given all of the construction in Magic Kingdom (and beyond), but they won’t. Nothing would bring me greater joy than this being wrong. It would make my day/week/month/year!
Prediction: Non-Announcements
We do not expect dates or details about the 2026 Candlelight Processional, as narrators and dining package info are typically announced much later than the rest of Halfway to the Holidays. Walt Disney World might share dates for the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, since those follow the same formula every year.
Another announcement you shouldn’t expect is specifics about the gingerbread houses at the various Walt Disney World resort hotels. There might be a passing reference to them, but full dates and details are usually released much later. We do have a rather bold prediction about the gingerbread houses for Christmas 2026, but we’ll save that for a standalone post.
Beyond these non-announcements, it’s also common for new additions and enhancements for the hard ticket special events to not be revealed right away. We’re still waiting on Walt Disney World to fully pull back the curtain on Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and that’s less than two months away.
Prediction: MVMCP Starts Earlier Than Ever
As for the event itself, our prediction is that the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will start on or around November 6, 2026 and continue several nights per week until around December 20, 2026.
For reference, here are last year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Dates:
- November 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 25, 26, 28, 30
- December 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21
Last year’s event started on Friday, November 7th, which tied 2016 for the earliest start. All years in between have seen November 8th or 9th opening nights. If adjusted for this year, that same Friday would be November 6, 2026.
If this is accurate, it would be the earliest start date ever for MVMCP. This feels like a safe prediction. The 2026 MNSSHP is setting a new record (also by one night), and the November 6, 2026 start date is strongly supported by recent precedent when taking into account day of the week.
Even though this would be earlier than ever, that’s simply because the first feasible Friday in November is earlier this year than past years. The only thing that could throw a monkey wrench into this is if October 31st and November 6th are deemed too close together for turning over the entertainment. Decoration removal and installation usually is done in 3-4 days/nights, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
Prediction: Ticket Sales Start Soon
There’s a lot of precedent for this one, from both past MVMCPs and this year’s MNSSHP.
In all likelihood, the special event tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will become available on June 30, 2026 for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green. For all other guests, tickets will likely be available starting July 7, 2026.
As noted above, the timing of Independence Day could throw a monkey wrench into these release dates, but we doubt it. It’s one thing to have a splashy announcement overshadowed by a holiday weekend; it’s another entirely for ticket sales, which will happen gradually over several months, regardless.
Prediction: 25+ MVMCP Nights
Walt Disney World could squeeze-in another night or two in the week of December leading up to the 25th, especially with Christmas falling on a Friday this year and crowd levels for that week being lower that week last year.
They might be able to get away with a final Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 22, 2026. That would be later than normal, but not unreasonably so.
Given that, we wouldn’t be surprised if 2026 is the year that number of MVMCP increases from 25 to 26-27 parties. Thanksgiving week isn’t as busy as it once was, either, so not as big of a buffer is needed there. That might present the opportunity to squeeze-in another night or two.
This prediction is unsupported by recent precedent, but we’re making it anyway. Walt Disney World had the opportunity to add another 2-3 nights to the 2026 MNSSHP and declined to do so, keeping the same number of dates as last year.
Prediction: No Change to Price Ranges
Last year, MVMCP ticket prices ranged from $169 to $229, with the lowest prices being earlier in the season. Every single date from Thanksgiving week and beyond in December cost at least $199.
Similarly, Jollywood Nights tickets ranged in price from $159 to $199, which was a $20 increase on the high end. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members could save $10 per ticket to Disney Jollywood Nights, valid for all event nights.
It’s actually difficult to predict prices for MVMCP. They skyrocketed a few years ago, but haven’t gone up much since then despite all dates selling out. Walt Disney World could probably increase to a starting price of $199 and a maximum of $269 and still sell out. We doubt that’ll happen.
Our guess is that they’ll stick with the current range for both MVMCP and DJN, and simply shift the distribution of dates towards the higher end of the spectrum. This is the approach Disney adopted for the 2026 MNSSHP. The range is unchanged, but there are more expensive dates and only a handful of cheap ones. The end result is an effective price increase of roughly 6%.
We expect this formula to be followed for the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights. It’s possible the low end of the latter will increase to $169 to match MVMCP, but we don’t expect major increases beyond that. This is probably not the year of huge price increases.
Prediction: MVMCP Sells Out Entire Season Again, Starting in Sept.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has sold out every single night for each of the last 4 years. This is the ‘new normal’ for Walt Disney World events, even after revenge travel and elevated pent-up demand spending have run their course. It’s not unique to MVMCP, either. Special events and other upcharges sell better now despite most also suffering from staleness and higher prices.
Last year, opening night sold out on September 10, with more dates selling out later that same month, along with many dates in mid-to-late October. Approximately half of the season sold out before the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party season has even started. As a whole, sold out dates in 2025 outpaced the previous year, when a few dates came close to not selling out.
However, unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which has seen heightened demand for October 31st, there is no single date that MVMCP sells out of super fast (presumably because MVMCP isn’t held on December 24/25th). The fastest selling dates tend to be opening night, the cheapest dates, and the date closest to Christmas Day.
Consequently, it’s highly unlikely that the 2026 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will sell out any dates instantaneously. Our prediction is that the first sell out will happen in early to mid-September. Maybe August. But nothing in June or July.
Suffice to say, those are our predictions for Halfway to the Holidays. We’ll see you on June 23, 2026 to see how these “performed.” Here’s hoping for a pleasant surprise or two; we’d love nothing more than for Walt Disney World to stray from their formula and overdeliver for Christmas 2026!

I used to be a traditionalist (day after Thanksgiving) but now I love Christmas stuff being up or available to do by November 11 since I’m able to do a mini vacation then and it’s not as busy or expensive a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving.
So if Disney (or elsewhere) has it done the week after Halloween and ready for me by Nov. 11th, I am all for it.
I’m a “Turkey Before Tree” person, because my birthday is in November (the same day as Mickey and Minnie’s, if that’s any indication). I hate the hype of having Halloween in August, but I love Christmas at the parks! We have dreams of spending it at DL and Aulani some day (maybe next year we’ll do DL). I’m excited for all the Christmas announcements!
I feel like Halloween parties in August are OK because it gives kids from outside of the area an opportunity to experience them with much of the country not starting school until later August or after Labor Day.
I’m awaiting winter discounts for hotel stays. any predictions when that will happen. I’m hoping soon.
but seeing the dates line up with our potential plans makes me really happy.
