Halloween is Here! Magic Kingdom Gets Decked Out Ahead of Disney World’s Earliest-Ever MNSSHP.

Halloween is here at Walt Disney World! Main Street USA is now all decked out for spook season, as crews hung the iconic light-up Mickey Mouse pumpkin wreaths from Town Square to Cinderella Castle overnight at Magic Kingdom. Fall bunting, wreaths, and more decor line the way, as the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is just days away!

For those of you who are not familiar with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP), the hard ticket event starts this Friday, running from August 7 through October 31, 2026. It features a special parade, fireworks, Hocus Pocus stage show, and more. You can read more about all of that in our Guide to the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

This year’s MNSSHP is a lot like last year. Tickets are once again $119 to $229, with the highest prices being October and on weekends, as All Hallow’s Eve draws nearer. There are once again 38 nights of the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, just like last year. The biggest difference between the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which is relevant from the perspective of the fall decor already being up in Magic Kingdom, is that the first MNSSHP was a full week later than normal last year. Although an official explanation was never given for the delay, it was almost certainly a one-off due to the debut of Starlight and operations wanting that parade to have a longer runway of nightly performances.

The 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party returns to its 2023-2024 “normal” start date, which is Friday of the first full week of August. The end result of that is the first party falls on August 7, 2026, which is an earlier date than ever before. But that’s more a result of the calendar and less of Disney deliberately moving forward the date.

Two days ahead of that earliest-ever start date for MNSSHP, Magic Kingdom is fully decked out for Halloween. Here are pre-park opening photos shared by Walt Disney World, followed by video of the first pumpkin Mickey Mouse wreath going up:

Despite the earliest-ever start date for the 2026 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the decorations going up on August 5th is more or less normal. For those keeping score at home, the earliest-ever date for the decorations to go up was three years ago, when the first touches of fall began appearing on Main Street on July 31, 2023.

Fans were clearly not ready for Halloween to start in July. There was considerable pushback and jokes at Disney’s expense in response, as opposed to an outpouring of enthusiasm. The 2026 discourse will inevitably still debate whether Halloween before school goes back into session is “too early,” but at least this year, there will also be a lot of excitement. And in the end, people vote with their wallets: all of the MNSSHP dates in early to mid-August are already sold out.

There’s a reason Halloween starts earlier and earlier pretty much everywhere. Walt Disney World has just been ahead of the trend in making MNSSHP its longest event of the year. Americans love Halloween. Every year I see new statistics about how a higher percentage of people are celebrating spooky season, spending more money on decorations, and getting into the spirit earlier.

I think it’d be pretty funny if Magic Kingdom did a “countdown calendar” to Halloween between Chamber of Commerce and City Hall like they do for Christmas to underscore the absurdly early start date of the second-tier holiday. Halloween is right around the corner–we’re *almost* to the (checks notes) 85 day mark!

Although not pictured in the photos via Walt Disney World, the Town Square Pumpkin People, Creepy Citizens of Main Street, Not So Scary Scarecrows–or whatever you want to call them–are back in Town Square. As are the pumpkins lining the upper windows along Main Street, the festive fall bunting, and everything else.

With Main Street USA now fully decked out for Halloween, we should see crews next move to Liberty Square, Frontierland, and–new as of last year–Fantasyland and Storybook Circus. Those lands are more limited in their decor packages, so it’s possible they’ll all be knocked out tonight.

I’ll be in Magic Kingdom later this afternoon and for Extended Evening Hours, along with Early Entry testing the following couple of mornings (fingers crossed) before the first MNSSHP. As far as Halloween goes, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the unequivocal highlight. Unlike Disneyland, Walt Disney World doesn’t really do anything for the spook season that’s included in regular admission. There are no character costumes, attraction overlays, or anything else of substance. Beyond the decorations, it’s basically just merchandise and a limited-number of special food options.

Speaking of that hard ticket event, it’s worth noting that in August, MNSSHP dates occur on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This is also true for September with the addition of one Thursday date on September 24, 2026. In October, ghouls can descend upon Magic Kingdom every Thursday; most Fridays, Sundays, most Tuesdays; and Saturday on Halloween.

As always, the 2026 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will take place from 7:00 pm until midnight. Ticket holders will be admitted to Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 pm on the valid date of their ticket. The October 31, 2026 was the first date of this year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to officially sell out. The final night of MNSSHP sold out before 9 am back on May 12, 2026, which was the very first day that tickets went on sale to the general public.

Following that, the August 11, 2026 and August 14, 2026 dates of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party sold out in late June and early July, respectively. More dates have sold out since. Here’s a complete list of what’s gone:

• August 7, 2026 (sold out 7/18)
• August 11, 2026 (sold out 6/29)
• August 14, 2026 (sold out 7/3)
• August 18, 2026 (sold out 7/14)
• September 4, 2026 (sold out 7/31)
• October 9, 2026 (sold out 7/30)
• October 13, 2026 (sold out 7/14)
• October 31, 2026 (sold out 5/12)

With the first four events off the board, the earliest MNSSHP you can attend if you haven’t already purchased tickets is August 21, 2026. If you haven’t purchased MNSSHP tickets but are considering attending, you might want to act fast, as that date is among those likely to sell out soon.

There are 5 dates remaining in late August and early September that are priced under $150. Expect those to sell out next. Along with that, don’t be surprised if the scattering of mid-October dates around Fall Break start to go. Based on past precedent, there will be a “run” on tickets right after the first party is held. Expect the entire month of September to sell out by Labor Day.

Other dates in October 2026 will probably start selling out by the first or second week in September. Last year, half of the MNSSHP dates in October sold out my shortly after Labor Day. As a rule of thumb, you should expect party dates to sell out about one month in advance. Last year, all dates of MNSSHP sold out by September 24th.

At the risk of stating the obvious, all of this is simply past precedent. Historical patterns are good predictors, but they’re not conclusive. If you don’t have flexibility in which party you attend, the best practice at this point is to buy tickets ASAP. If you’re still on the fence, make a decision whether to go or skip sooner rather than later.

It’s highly unlikely that any material changes are happening this year, so there’s no sense waiting for reviews or photos/video of the first party. Make your decision now based on this year’s ticket prices, last year’s reviews, and your own assessment of the value proposition.
