Overrated Disney World Experiences

Some things at Walt Disney World are overrated. While we love most restaurants, rides, and hotels at Walt Disney World, we don’t love it all. These experiences might still be “good,” but they are overrated in the sense that their quality doesn’t live up to the hype, price, or long wait times. Because of that, in some cases, the listed experiences might be things we really enjoy…they just have wait times, prices, or hype that are too high in relation to the quality of what is offered.
Price and wait times are pretty easy to gauge since they’re objective. Hype is more difficult, as it requires a knowledge of what other people really like. We read forums, comments on social media, and listen to a number of podcasts, so we think we have a pretty good idea which Walt Disney World experiences are typically held in high regard by other fans.
This topic is one that was actually inspired by our Facebook page. Folks commenting there aren’t afraid to share opinions on what we review. We frequently read your comments that certain restaurants or hotels are “overrated” in response to our reviews, so we figured that we’d put together our list of “Overrated Walt Disney World Experiences.”
This list does not take into account any of your opinions we’ve read; since many of you frequently disagree with us (which is great–we love the open dialogue of this site and although we happen to like our opinions ;), we hardly think our opinions are the definitive word on anything) and because “overrated” is widely subjective based upon personal tolerances, financial circumstances, and wait-tolerance, we’re really hoping for some feedback from you on what you think is overrated at Walt Disney World!
With that, let’s dig into the list!
Dining

Le Cellier – Four or so years ago, I think this would have been a controversial pick. Then, Le Cellier was a great value on the Disney Dining Plan, while offering some excellent appetizers and good (albeit slightly over-buttered and over-salted) cuts of meat. It was difficult to land an advance dining reservation at Le Cellier, but not impossible.
Over time, buzz increased and reservations became more difficult to land. Disney made changes to the Disney Dining Plan and, eventually, to Le Cellier’s status at dinner. Finally, Le Cellier became a two-credit restaurant for lunch, too, making it a full-time Signature Restaurant. It also moved to a lunch/dinner menu, removing many cheaper options that were popular with those paying out of pocket. By now, I think the perception of Le Cellier has soured with many Disney fans.
For the last several years, we’ve been saying Le Cellier, while good, doesn’t live up to the hype. Now, much of that hype is gone, but it doesn’t live up to its status or price points. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan and want a great meal from a Signature steakhouse in the Epcot area, you’d be crazy to go to Le Cellier over Yachtsman Steakhouse. The latter has excellent cuts of meat wonderfully prepared, the former is good but isn’t worth the price (either in real money or Dining Plan credits), wait, or effort to secure reservations.
Chefs de France – Chefs de France has never had the same buzz as Le Cellier, but it has long had similarly high price points. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, Chefs de France is a great value…meaning it’s a poor value for those paying out of pocket. Regardless of how you’re paying, you might want to skip Chefs de France, which doesn’t offer cuisine worthy of France.
Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe – My opinion of Pecos Bill has improved a bit since our original review of it, but this is mostly due to me developing a greater appreciation for the theming. I still think the food is inferior to Cosmic Ray’s, and its toppings bar is approximately the same. Yet Pecos Bill is frequently hyped as one of the best counter service restaurants at Walt Disney World, while Cosmic Ray’s nary draws a mention. I get why some people dislike Ray’s, but Pecos Bill is nothing special and certainly isn’t deserving of the hype it receives from the fan community. At best, it’s the #5 counter service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.
Disney Dining Plan – Okay, it’s not a restaurant, and I’ve already shared this in my Disney Dining Plan Review, but I think this bears repeating as many times as possible. Despite getting less and paying more on a yearly basis, people continue to absolutely adore the Disney Dining Plan. A big part of this is because it’s cleverly marketed as being “free,” which savvy Disney guests know is not actually true. While still useful in some circumstances and for some guests, as a whole, the Disney Dining Plan is overrated.
There are a few other “near misses,” but I just couldn’t bring myself to add them to the list. For example, Liberty Tree Tavern is pricey for what amounts to American comfort food…but it is all you can eat, so it’s not overrated if you’re really hungry. California Grill has a lot of buzz in the fan community, and while we prefer a few Signature Restaurants to it, it doesn’t disappoint. Other restaurants that in some ways disappoint seem to compensate for their disappointing elements somehow. Dining is probably the most divisive aspect of Walt Disney World vacationing, so we’re curious to hear what you believe is overrated.
Hotels

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – As Walt Disney World’s flagship resort-hotel, there’s a certain amount of cache that comes with a stay at the Grand Floridian. As a flagship resort, the Grand Floridian works. It’s the most elegant Disney-owned Walt Disney World hotel, has some excellent dining options, and is conveniently located on the monorail. As the “best” Disney-owned hotel at Walt Disney World for the money, it doesn’t work for me.
The exterior is gorgeous, but it the interior is dated. Fans of the hotel will argue that the Victorian theme is inherently dated, but that’s not what I mean. When the resort was designed, the Victorian theming was seemingly “given a modern twist” (I put this in quotes because it’s how Disney describes so much of the theming around Walt Disney World). Unfortunately, the modern twist is no longer modern, but instead seems incredibly dated. Much of what is present in the Grand Floridian reminds me of the design of an affluent Kentucky house, circa-1991, not timeless Victorian beauty.
Beyond that, its price is out of touch with the amenities offered, even considering that you’re paying a premium for it being an on-property hotel. If price were no issue, I would prefer staying at any of the Epcot resorts or Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The one group to whom I’d recommend the Grand Floridian above all else is anyone who places a value on being surrounded by other well-off guests. Even then, why not just stay at the Waldorf Astoria Orlando?
For hotels, that’s the only one at which we’ve stayed that I consider overrated. Every other hotel at which we’ve stayed I’ve enjoyed for different reasons. (Note: this one is my opinion, not our opinion. Sarah loves the Grand Floridian and doesn’t at all consider it overrated.)
Attractions

Toy Story Midway Mania – Based upon past Facebook discussions, I suspect this will be a divisive one. Some on Facebook have called it a glorified Wii game, others have considered it the best attraction at Walt Disney World. For us, it’s neither. It’s a fun attraction that offers way more in terms of interactivity (and strategy) than the Wii game by the same name, but it doesn’t even come close to being a classic Disney attraction in terms of quality. It’s superficial and lacks the longevity of other classics. It’s overrated in terms of its wait times. I suspect this is primarily a result of a serious attraction imbalance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, not a true reflection of its popularity.
Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith – Although the pre-show and queue help spruce it up, Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster is basically an unthemed rollercoaster in the dark. It’s fun, but it’s not 90-minute-wait fun, nor is it the caliber of experience you’d expect from Disney. It’s a thrills for the sake of thrills attraction. Not that there’s anything wrong with that in general, but there is something wrong that at Walt Disney World.
Primeval Whirl – Not exactly a beloved attraction among the fan community, and not exactly having long waits, Primeval Whirl is still overrated. As long as a single person visits Primeval Whirl each day, it will be overrated, as that’s one guest too many. Primeval Whirl is the biggest eyesore in Walt Disney World, and it’s arguably more tacky than areas of Disney California Adventure that were demolished for not being up to Disney theme park standards.
Some people rave about Dinoland, claiming that it’s misunderstood and that its backstory makes it incredibly clever. It’s not clever. Its backstory is lipstick on a pig. Just as a landfill would not be appropriate for a Disney theme park (no matter what story attached) because it is a landfill, a roadside carnival with off the shelf attractions is not appropriate in a Disney theme park because of what it is. Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a lot greatness, but absolutely none of that is attributable to Primeval Whirl or Dinoland.
The Barnstormer – I can’t imagine anyone will argue with this pick. It’s not overrated because fans love it, but because of often-long wait times. There’s no reason to fixate on this one, except to point out that it’s the only Fantasyland attraction on this list. That might come as a surprise to some. Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid just misses the list because its wait times are expected to subside, Snow White’s Scary Adventures no longer exists, and Peter Pan’s Flight isn’t too bad early in the morning or with FastPass, which is why none of those attractions made the list.
There are a few other attractions that just miss (Soarin’ is not worthy of its standby waits or early morning dash, but FastPass allows those waits to be skipped; Fantasmic! is overrated when compared to Disneyland’s version…but is that a fair comparison for people who only visit Walt Disney World?) making the list, but those are the big ones. Although we’ve come close to blurring the line between just plain “bad” and “overrated” with a couple of these attraction picks, it’s important to remember that there is a difference. With the exception of Primeval Whirl, which is just so awful that no matter what it’s “rated,” it’s overrated, these are all overrated due to reputation and/or wait times.

Your Thoughts
When first working on this list, I hoped to include some experiences outside these main three categories. Unfortunately, our frame of reference for an “other” category is not thorough-enough to do it justice, and I won’t include things we haven’t personally experienced (for example, Wild Africa Trek looks overrated due to its price, but we can’t be certain of that as we haven’t done it). With that said, we’d love it if you’d share your thoughts on anything at Walt Disney World that you believe is overrated, and what you agree or disagree with on our list!

I’ll be bold enough to add the overhyped Zebra Domes to the “overrated” list. I’ve had them twice….just to be fair. While I find them good….and tasty….they are not the end-all of desserts. After eating them I found myself disappointed because I didn’t find them living up to the hype. Boma has quite a few tasty desserts and some that actually are better than the Zebra Domes.
BLASPHEMY! You probably walk around the parks with a pin, popping all the little kids’ balloons, too, don’t you? 😉
I had the zebra dome for the first time on my last trip (I don’t know how I hadn’t had them before…) and I didn’t think they were all that great. Maybe because my taste buds aren’t fans of coffee. I can think of tons of desserts I like better… bring on the Starring Rolls chocolate peanut butter cupcake!
I like the Zebra Domes. I also like just about any cupcake at Starring Rolls!
…I also like popping balloons with pins! 😉
Maybe that’s the reason….also not a fan of coffee. I thought they were okay, but like you….tons of desserts I like better
The only time the GF may not be overrated is in the very specific situation of staying there with small children (probably girls) who want to spend most of their time at the Magic Kingdom…and you get a room right by Narcossees (which means you are right next to the boat dock). This is pretty much as close as you can get to the MK by Disney transportation. When my youngest sibling was 3 my family stayed here – in a room right next to that boat dock – and it was great being able to be to and from the MK so quickly – no stroller necessary – and to avoid dealing with the hassle of walking to/packing onto the monorail with a youngster. The pool was HUGE and never crowded…and we were there Thanksgiving week.
I actually think the GF is underrated and the (gasp) Poly is overrated in the Disney Internet community. Can’t wait for the “underrated” post…I’m expecting “adults meeting characters” to be on there!!
I couldn’t agree more with Betsy on the Grand Floridian. I think it gets a bad rap from the Disney Fan Community as being too stuffy. We stayed in a similar room. Is it over-priced? Absolutely. Overrated? No. I think it is actually underrated for the reasons that Betsy stated above.
The sole reason that Cosmic Ray’s is underrated is because of the separate bays for ordering. It really is hard to navigate, unless the stars align and everyone wants something from the same bay.
I can understand how others would love GF (heck, my own wife does), but I’m not sure that something deemed overpriced can also be underrated.
I can pretty much agree with you on all of this, except perhaps Toy Story Midway Mania. For some reason, I don’t mind standing in line 90 minutes for 6 minutes of this attraction. (Much more than that, though, is when it becomes overrated for me.)
I think it is hard to assign a ratings scale to some of the attractions because we typically have personal bias and nostalgia associated with some of them. Barnstormer was my son’s first roller coaster, and he loved it. I will always love that silly, little ride. O’hana is our traditional last night dining location, so it has a special place for my family. That being said, sometimes you just can’t overlook how awful the place and experience was. I think Chef Mickey’s is extremely overrated. The wait to get in (even with reservations) to be able to consume large amounts of below average food while waiting countless hours to see all the characters is just not worth it. We vowed never to go back in 2009 after our third trip there for dinner and have not. Overrated rides are Captain EO and Space Mountain.
Underrated – I would include POP Century and TTA. TTA has no lines and a nice little break from the crowds and heat.
Totally agree about Chef Mickey’s. It was probably the worst meal I’ve had at Disney. Plus the characters didn’t want to spend any time at our table (2 adults) and the service was horrible. I warn people away yet it still seems to be popular. My experience at the Garden Grill was a lot better and the atmosphere can’t be beat.
OMG – I read this whole article and all the comments and the one thing that I really, really yelled “YES!” to, is that Chef Mickey’s is Overated with a capital O! For years, I have been unable to get a reservation there. Finally, last month, I got me, my husband and my 2 sons a reservation. I was expecting really great food, especially as it was my favorite restaurant many years ago when it was a small restaurant at Downtown Disney. I also expected greatness because of its popularity. Blah! First, they gave us a beeper just so that they could DIVERT us to a photography area…then, “magically” and immediately, our table was ready! The food was really, really sub-par. We were so disappointed (and left a Disney buffet hungry!) THEN…got hit up with some high-pressure sales as some guy comes over to our table as we were trying to eat and tries to get us to buy a $31 photo package of the picture they made us take when we arrived. I felt embarrassed saying “no” – so I caved. The characters were cute and broke through my boys’ embarrassed barrier and made them laugh. But we were so disappointed when I saw how much we spent on such a disappointing dining experience. I’ll never return (unless I hear solid evidence that they’ve improved their menu) and I’ll never recommend it to anyone! (forgive me – so much negative spewing about such a magical place as WDW is!) Loved this article!
I think that Dumbo is overrated. I never even liked it as a kid. I preferred what were then the Rocket Ships (now the Astro Orbiters). The view is better, and I’m a Tomorrowland junkie. And to this day, the waits are so much shorter at the Orbiters.
I don’t think that’s true about the wait times now that Dumbo has two spinners.
I’m with you on preferring Astro Orbiter, though. What a view!
I just want to say something.
I HATE PECOS BILL!!!!! HATE!
The place is over-run, crowded, ugly, with food that will give you indigestion. It fits in a place like six flags, not disney world. Man I hate me some pecos bill
I don’t hate Pecos Bill’s…but I’ve yet to figure out what makes this place so popular among fans. The burgers are Disney burgers…the same burgers that you can get at Cosmic Ray’s. Fixin’s Bar? Whoop-Deee-Freakin’ Doo! At least at Cosmic Ray’s I’m getting quality entertainment from Sonny Eclipse to go with my quite ordinary Disney burger. 😀
I’m just bitter because my wife got horrible indigestion from pecos bill. It was bad enough walking through the hut-themed restaurant trying to find a clean table… or any table at all. Then dealing with the insanity of trying to walk back from the taco salad bar without spilling anything while dodging people on your way to a table.
As a lifelong fan and avid park goer – I mostly agree! Except with Pecos Bill(like several others here). I have to say I find Dole Whips highly overrated – give me a Mickey premium any day! Also fantasmic. Seeing people standing in line 3 hours before show time is insane!
Dang, once again I am ALL alone on Pecos Bills! Doesn’t ANYONE else think it’s overrated? I’ll take just one other person agreeing with me, at this point! 🙂
Thanks for sharing a couple of things you think are overrated, too. I love Dole Whips, but I’ll admit their status is a bit overblown.
Question about those dole whips since they were brought up…. What makes them any more special then soft serve pineapple sorbet?
Every blog I go to raves about them but any description I can get of them makes me think that they must be over rated soft serve.
See my post below….I’ll agree with you. The burgers at Pecos Bills are the same burgers everywhere else on property…nothing special. Give me a place indoors where I don’t have to have someone guard my food from the birds if I happen to get up.
I’m not a pineapple fan…so I’ll go with the Dole Whips being overrated.
Me. I agree about Pecos Bills. Especially after my sister worked there. I’ll go to Columbia House over it any day.
I agree with Captain EO; I didn’t even enjoy it when it was first opened. I agree now with Le Cellier, especially with the lunch menu taken away. I never realized anyone without little kids too short to ride BTMR, Splash, or Space Mountains spent time on Barnstormer. I find Cosmic Ray’s overrated; I can’t stand that creepy singing animatronic and we can never find a seat, even well after lunch rush at 2:30 PM.
As for resorts, of the ones I’ve stayed in (which are many), Beach Club is overrated to me. I love the pool area, sure, but the rooms are smaller than those across the lake at Boardwalk. Or maybe that’s just DVC rooms? Still, it makes a difference to us since we do use our room as more than just a sleep/shower place.
Can’t wait to see your underrated list.
I think Captain EO has very dated material (obviously) and may have been refurbished and brought back because of all the MJ hype in the media after his death (although I’m not 100 percent sure on the timeline). I will say that the sound system is state-of-the-art and if the wait is short it’s not such a horrible way to spend some time on a hot day in future world.
Good to see people are including things they think are overrated, but…
You think Sonny Eclipse is CREEPY?! Those are fightin’ words!!! 😉
I’ve been in a room at Beach Club that was MUCH larger than the DVC studio, but it was a corner room, so I’m not sure that it was representative of the rest of the resort. Their DVC rooms are small, but I still absolutely love Beach Club.
I’ve got your back Tom….time to defend Sonny Eclipse! Bring it on!
Sorry, Sonny just gives me the creeps. The rest of the family likes him.
And yes, I think the corner Beach Club rooms are larger, but overall they are some of the smallest DVC rooms. Love the location though. We often try to stay in the Epcot resort area. We do love the resort overall, it’s the rooms that get us.
I have to go ahead and put Fantasmic on the list. I saw it once at DHS and vowed never EVER to see it again. I thought that the quality was so low, especially compared to Wishes and IllumiNations that it wasn’t worth the time effort or disappointment. It was, in my opinion, so bad that I had to be cajoled and almost coerced to go see the west coast version when I went the Disneyland half marathon last September – and I’m sure glad that I gave in. I found it so much better that I was even interested in seeing it again the next night. Obviously, Fantasmic at Disneyland is the superior version, but the one at DHS is just not in the same league, and should not be drawing the crowds and waits that it does, especially with two GOOD nighttime shows so close by.
Well, Fantasmic is free and is a one-of-a-kind show for Disney World. I don’t see how anyone could dislike it in comparison to illuminations or wishes but hey that’s just my humble opinion.
Yes- I am one of those hardcore MJ fans who also loves Disney and was super excited to see Captain EO in the park again. I missed it the first time around (I’m 25) so, it was a fantastic experience for me. That being said, I was able to see it 3x in a row without much of a wait. I think that goes to show that the era of Captain EO has passed long ago.
MJ forever!
My one contention is with Barnstormer. I ride it late at night (no line) and with my head back, gazing at the night sky. Cumbersome, I suppose, but it turns the ride into a trippy BTMR. Many of my friends swear by BTMR facing backward, and this rivals it. Normal Barnstormer, I agree with you. The mere fact I have to hack it does speak to its issues.
I 100% agree about the Grand Floridian being overrated, we went during Free Dining and had most of our reservations in Epcot–huge mistake given the fact you have to catch two monorails to get to Epcot (totally underestimated the time commitment). We spent a lot of time waiting during that vacation which put a damper on it plus like a lot of people, we had built up the hype (I blame Steve and DJ from Full House)so we were bound for disappointment. Still a beautiful hotel but we will probably stick with the Poly or the Epcot resorts in the future.
Agree with basically all of these except Pecos Bill for sure. I hear what you’re saying about Primeval Whirl, but as long as the wait is short it’s just a fun ride (not that I wouldn’t mind Chester and Hester being removed, mind you).
Great article! I disagree with you on Pecos Bill. I like the theming better, and I find the lines at Cosmic Ray’s to always be way longer. I’d love to know which counter service restaurants you like better! I’ve never thought much of Fantasmic!, I much prefer Illuminations. We almost always do single-rider for RnR, much better that way. And I agree with your assessment of Captain EO, but my kids (15 and 16) LOVE it!! Strange.
Primeval Whirl is the only ride in WDW I absolutely will not do. Even other rides I don’t care for I’m willing to ride if someone else in my party wants to ride them. I’ve even sat through Lights, Motors, Action! in the middle of June. Primeval Whirl is where I draw the line. Cheap, tacky, and literally painful. The Dinoland concept has too much potential to waste so much space on Dinorama.
Primeval Whirl is such a bad attraction it hurts LITERALLY. When a Disney Attraction causes you shout out curse words spontaneously in pain it needs to be scrapped. Dinosaur will literally jerk you around till you feel like you are in a milkshake but it doesn’t hurt.
That is so true! My husband and I were in so much pain after riding Primeval Whirl. The only thing that saved this horrible experience was being handed Dream Fastpasses as we got off the ride.
We always call it Primeval Hurl.
Love your name for Primeval Whirl! That’s exactly how I felt! I rode it once and no one will ever get me on there again!
Funny, I was going to call Dinosaur and its DL version with Indiana Jones overrated because of how they both jerk you around so much they do hurt. I’ve only ridden the Hurl once, and that was more than enough. Dinosaur is on the no-fly list right behind it.
I’ll fastpass or single-rider RNRC most every trip, and almost never bother with space mountain. Guess nostalgia beats out that wonderful 0-60 for some people, but not for me.
Le Cellier changed to their overpriced-all-the-time menu just a week before our lunch rez last Friday. We ended up having soup and appetizers, split a creme brulee, and still spent $80 with tip. Good soup, but hardly worth it.
$80 for that?! Wow.
Interesting points on RnRC v. Space Mountain. I think reducing Space Mountain to simple nostalgia is a bit much, but I will concede that is part of the appeal (at least for me, personally). Space Mountain, I think, is still the better overall experience.
I’m a lifelong WDW fanatic, and I agree with almost all of your choices, Tom (Captain EO? Yuck!). However, Toy Story Midway Mania is currently my single favorite attraction in all of Walt Disney World! Yes, the lines are nuts, and I won’t do it without FastPass, but I absolutely adore this attraction!
I really enjoy TSMM (we usually just do it at Disney California Adventure, where waits are shorter and it’s less of a hassle).
For me, it lacks that x-factor to make it a classic attraction. It’s fun because there’s so much stimulation, but it just doesn’t have the same quality of experience as Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror, for example, which I feel really draw guests into a story and make them part of incredibly detailed environments.
I can understand why you’d love TSMM, though!
Do I dare and blaspheme here by saying that I find Space Mountain overrated? What say you?
Funny that you mention that… When I was doing the write-up for RnRC, I thought, “boy, this sounds a lot like Space Mountain!”
I’m not sure that I can make a solid distinction, but I far prefer Space Mountain to RnRC for some reason.
So in other words, I see your point but can’t agree with you! 🙂
RnRC is a good roller coaster, but the wait times are enough to classify it as overrated. (Another example: Barnstormer is completely worth it if you can walk on) Personally I find that it’s a ride that you do after tower of terror if the wait time is reasonable. Space Mountain definitely has the x-factor…I’m reduced to giggling like a school girl every time I ride it… as a result, it’s definitely worth a longer wait time. Just one man’s opinion 🙂
Space Mountain is Space Mountain. It has the history. Plus, you kind of forget how good it is until you ride it again 🙂
Totally disagree that Pecos Bill’s is overrated. I love skipping breakfast and having lunch here around 11am, just before the real lunchtime rush, and if you sit in the reasonably-dark room with the Pirates-of-the-Caribbean-esque fascade (with the balcony and plants) it can be very quite peaceful and atmospheric (although it is arguably in more of an Adventureland than Frontierland style).
I love Toy Story Mania and Rockin’ Rollercoaster, but I’m afraid I have to agree with your observations. One attraction I might add to the overrated list would be Finding Nemo: The Musical. Whilst I have only seen this once and am keen to see it again to see if my opinion has changed, I found this to be a long, drawn out and inferior-imitation of the movie (which I love!). The puppetry is impressive, but the novelty wears off after a while.
I know exactly which room you’re referring to, and we might have to give that a try. For now, I still think it’s overrated! 😉
Finding Nemo: The Musical is really, really popular, so it would be a good candidate for a list like this…except I think it TOTALLY lives up to the hype. I guess I could see how some people would think it’s overrated, but I absolutely love it. The puppetry just amazes me.
I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Nemo is just too long. Plus we were sitting in the back on the bleacher type seats. My back was killing me by the time the show finally ended!
I agree with you on Nemo, but only because of the LYRICS. I loved the staging, the costumes, the puppets… but the lyrics to the songs are terrible.
I agree about Nemo being overrated. I watched it when it first opened and haven’t been back. Of course, my opinion may be biased just because I remember what Nemo replaced… Tarzan was much better! Even with it being outdoors in the heat I think I watched it every time we visited.
We, too, saw Finding Nemo – the Musical when they were doing a “tech / dry run” pre-opening. And in our opinion, it was terrible! Again, I’m basing my opinion on before it opened, so some things may have changed, but what bugged us the most was the fact that the puppeteers would temporarily put down the puppet and sing to the audience. So, is this a puppet-show or a musical? Even “The Lion King” (the Broadway version) sticks to only the puppets. We found it a bit irritating.
Oh, and I know what you’re saying about Dinoland, but I really enjoy the “kitch” of it. Yes, totally agree that they’re “store-bought” rides, but that’s kind of the fun of it.
I would be curious of your underrated lists as well. Do you already have one of those?
I was thinking the same thing. I would love to see the accompanying list of underrated things in WDW.
That list comes later this week–probably Thursday!
I adore Le Cellier. I’ve never used the dining plan (and don’t plan to, I think it’s a scam) but didn’t mind paying for what I considered an excellent meal. But, I haven’t been since 2010, so if things have changed since then I guess I don’t know anymore. I’ve enjoyed Chefs de France (especially when they brought Remy around), but I could take it or leave it. And Pecos Bill I agree with. Back in the 80s/90s I remember loving it. Lately, it’s just been disappointing.
I wouldn’t have put Le Cellier on this list back in early 2010, so that might be the difference, there.
Besides an entree or two, Chefs de France just seems really bland to me for French cuisine.
