The Disney fan community is highly fragmented, with many people fitting into two extreme camps: Pixiedusters and Doom & Gloomers. Pixiedusters are those who seem to love everything Disney is doing simply “because it’s Disney,” and question how anyone could criticize anything Disney has done. Doom & Gloomers seem to dislike anything Disney has done
This trip report includes photos and commentary from our first trip to Disneyland at Christmas. Join us on our Christmas Expedition, as we dine at Club 33, photograph Disney time-lapse videos, eat our way through Disneyland’s holiday snacks, experience Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a small world” holiday for the first times(!), rain blows upon
World of Color was awesome when we saw it in May, but with this impressive new opening Prep & Landing tag, Disney has taken things to the next level. Here’s hoping there’s a full Christmas World of Color show in 2012! If you haven’t seen my new “A Christmas Day at Disneyland” time lapse video,
Here’s my first time lapse video, shot at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during the Christmas-time season. Hope you enjoy it! After I made this video, I followed up with a Walt Disney World Christmas Time Lapse Video. This is my first real try at shooting time lapse “in the field” and it was a
Thanks to “Remember… Dreams Come True,” expectations for fireworks spectaculars among Disneyland guests are very high. “Believe… In Holiday Magic” predates “Remember… Dreams Come True” and has run every season since 2000, except 2005, when the former continued its run to celebrate Disneyland’s 50th anniversary. The show begins with a female voice encouraging everyone to
What a difference a change in perspective (and, as a result, focal length) makes! A few days ago, I posted this photo of Partners at Disneyland appearing much larger than the tree. Thanks to moving back and using my 70-200mm lens, Partners now appears more appropriately sized (albeit still too tall for scale!) in comparison
“it’s a small world” holiday is an overlay to the classic “it’s a small world” attraction in Disneyland featuring Christmas and other international holidays. This overlay premiered in 1997 and due to its popularity, the overlay has been enhanced several times since then as decorations are added and changed. Unless you’re living under a rock,
Christmas in Le Court des Anges is a beautiful sight…until you look at the ground level, and see that the gorgeous court has been turned into a veritable gift shop during the Christmas season. This presents difficulties in composing an unobstructed shot and resulted in an odd crop here. Normally, I just avoid shooting areas
After I had concluded taking photos (or so I thought) one night, the view of Sleeping Beauty Castle behind the tree caught my eye. I quickly snapped a series of shots, changing my focal point as I thought two very similar, yet very different shots would be interesting. Here’s one of the photos. You can
I’m working on detailed attraction pages with commentary, photos, and ride-through video for both “it’s a small world” holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday. For now, I’ll just say that we were absolutely blown away by Haunted Mansion Holiday. I lost count of how many times we rode it, but I think it was around 20.
We first experienced “it’s a small world” holiday during the day. My expectations for the attraction weren’t incredibly high, as I figured it involved a few Santa hats, a new soundtrack, and some Christmas lights strung throughout the attraction. Maybe a little more. To say we were both blown away when we discovered a thorough
